Here is an interesting chip which packs a lot of punch. It's also one that has helped me to "neutralize" large numbers of Covenant forces during the Halo campaigns. It is a NEW X02056-010 Graphics Processor Unit for use in XBOX 360 consoles.
This special graphics chip has it's very own Dram on board and is comprised of over 235 million transistors. The X02056-010 GPU connects via BGA ( Ball Grid Array) on the bottom of the substrate with 1,017 separate connections! A chip like this isn't the sort of thing that the average electronics enthusiast or gamer would be capable of replacing because it requires special BGA soldering equipment to do so. I did find a company that is manufacturing BGA rework equipment who states that their system is perfect for rework of the XBOX 360 CPU and GPU.

The original container that these came in has a date code of 0715
and the seal date of the package was April 17 2007
These are RoHS parts and require the same appropriate soldering techniques
The moisture indicator of this bag was good when opened, and I transferred the individual chips to thier own antistatic bags directly. I am also storing these in a low humidity < 30 environment.
Any complex surface mount IC should be baked before installation to remove internal moisture once it has left the sealed lot bag for more that 48 hours.
According to the manufacturers bag, a bake of 22 hours at 110c is required before installation.
The picture of the bottom of the chip is an actual picture of one of the GPU chips which we have kept aside from the lot for demo purposes.
