Use this soldering iron for applying or removing solder lugs, making all types of solder connections, soldering stator connections on motors, heating small tools for hardening, melting solder or other similar materials, sweating copper pipes and fittings up to 1 1/4" diameter, soldering commutator risers, spot soldering, etc.
The Ideal Thermo-grip operates on a resistance heating principle. Touching the work with two carbon electrodes completes the secondary power circuit and causes the work to heat almost instantly. Heat is produced between the electrodes only and is, therefore, concentrated on the exact spot where it is needed. There is no danger of melting nearby joints or of burning other parts.
