You are looking at 99.99 pure tungsten static gap for a Tesla Coil. It is quenched by (2) aluminum 115 volt 50/60 Hertz 0.11 amp fans. By running the fans in the same direction, the push pull effect does a GREAT job of quenching the gap. I first tried this design a few years ago when I wanted a simple gap to tune my Tesla Coils with before I changed them over to a rotary gap. I was so impressed with how well it worked, I left a number of them in place. Far superior performance to just a single fan. The design is simple, a 7 inch x 4 inch x 1/4 inch thick piece of high temp epoxy fiberglass is used for the base. I have drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the center of each side of the channel to mount the tungsten rods. The locking collars hold everthing tight for a good connection. The pure copper lugs on each side make connecting the high voltage wires a snap. The fans are new and work well with a Variac, many small fans do not. I have left it up to you to wire and mount the fans. They have mounting holes so you could add a bracket if you wish, or just epoxy or silicon them in place. Also included is a 3 wire AC cord and a EMI filter. I had a fan destroyed once and have not had it happen since I added the filter. I would suggest to simply wire the fans in parallel. Make sure they are pointing the same direction ( they are marked with an arrow) and your ready go. A single gap really gives you a handle on what your total gap width should be if you change to a multi gap later.
