About the author
Douglas Gowan was born in 1943 and was educated at Christs Hospital. After leaving school he qualified as an accountant, and then read law and public health engineering externally at University. He joined the NFU in 1966 and later headed I the section dealing with all pollution problems relating to the farming industry.
He has travelled widely throughout Europe and America studying the problems lems associated with farm wastes and has serviced a number of governmental committees and working parties.
He entered private practice in 1969, , and he is at present consultant to the 'Country Landowners' Association and a number of large public companies as well as acting for several local authorities and many farmers, both in the UK and abroad.
