EP9312 is an ARM9-based highly integrated embedded system-on-chip (SOC) processor from Cirrus Logic which is able to work at up to 200MHz. The ARM920T microprocessor core with MMU has separate 16 KByte, 64-way set-associative instruction and data caches is augmented by the MaverickCrunch co-processor, enabling faster-than-real time compression of audio CDs. The processor has a large peripheral set including 1/10/100 Mbit Ethernet, three 16550 UARTs, IrDA, 3-port USB (host), up to 2 devices EIDE, touch interface, LCD and Raster interface, SPI interface, AC97 interface, etc. In addition, a highly flexible memory interface provides compatibility with SDRAM, SRAM, Flash, and ROM.
NK9312 Evaluation Board takes advantage of the high-performance Cirrus Logic EP9312 system-on-chip and fully supports high-lever operating systems such as Linux, Windows CE and other embedded operating systems. The board's code support package includes WINCE.net 4.2 BSP, Embedded Linux 2.4.21 source code and a download utility. The WINCE.net BSP source code provides users with the ability to test some of the subsystems such as IDE interface, LCD/VGA, Ethernet, PS/2, UART, USB Host, IIS, AC97 etc. What we provide along with embedded Linux 2.4.21 kernel source code are redboot, QT demo and Linux cross-compilation tool chain. The download utility provides a means to program a binary image into the flash memory on the NK9312 Evaluation Board.
NK9312 Evaluation Board also has another version to use EP9315 processor to replace EP9312 processor. The EP9315 processor is also from Cirrus Logic which takes all features of EP9312 and additionally its periphral devices include a PCMCIA interface on the rear of the board which supports one 16-bit PCMCIA PC Card to add memory, mass storage and I/O capabilities to computer systems and thus can be used to further broaden the options of a designer's platform. The LCD and Raster interface of EP9315 is with a graphics accelerator which is used in the system to off load graphics operations from the processor.
Typical applications of NK9312 board are POS (Point-of sale), internet audio, internet access devices, industrial computers, test and measurement equipments, etc.
