This unit is a very versatile ,portable, light weight and lower cost alternative to the HP "C" unit. The unit is all solid state, has a very high DC input Z; typically 100megohms DC, and for AC frequencies over 10mhz a input Z of 1megohm. Meter is fairly well damped, and is easy to read: white meter face and black pointer over black and red scale characters. The Hickok Active RF Probe is more than adequate for a wide variety of RF"sniffing" tasks up to 700mhz. This unit is terrific if you are repairing HF or VHF receivers, transmitters , those great old Boat Anchor Receivers, or test equipment such as signal generators. The high Z DC input is perfect for monitoring ALC/AVC lines in receivers and transmitters. Keep in mind that, as with all solid state electronics, this instrument was not designed to function well in a very dense RF Environment such as in close proximiity to a high powered RF amplifer or Transmitter. Never attempt to measure AC Line Voltage with this type of instrument.
Unit calibration checked and adjusted using the Hewlett Packard Lab Analog Meter Calibrator which was designed for the HP analog meter family.
