This is a 7 flute HSS ground thread pipe tap. Champion is a quality brand manufacturer of industrial cutting tools and machinery that has been sold in the USA for over 3 decades.
NPT and NPTF pipe taps are used for the same purpose. The NPT form, taper and general specifications are the same as NPTF threads except that one thread has been eliminated from the small end of the external thread while the internal thread is shortened by eliminating one thread at the large end.
