Retired HVAC contractor and serviceman is finally disposing of some instruments and tools along with vintage HVAC Memorabilia. Be sure to view my other items. Note, all items should be listed by 2/29/08
A real HVAC antique. The 1926 Directions for the "Operation and Care of IDEAL STEAM BOILERS While Burning Hard or Soft Coal".
The instructions are painted on a metal 9" x 13" wall mounted plaque that looks like a porcelain finish but is not. Ideal Steam Boilers were a Division of the AMERICAN RADIATOR COMPANY.
The paint and writing has not faded although the plaque did hang in an old boiler room, possibly next to the boiler, for many years. The boiler was converted from coal to oil after WWII, then replaced with a new boiler in the 70's when I picked up the plaque. It hung on the wall in my shop or office ever since.
The backing material behind the metal had gotten wet long, long ago but it is still intact and usable. I think steam or water had sprayed in the boiler room because the front has water spots. The paint has not faded and the printing and instructions are clear with some letters obscured. See close up photo. There are scratches on the face. The photo should provide an idea of condition plaque. A great HVAC memorabilia display for shop or office!
